Last week was a slow week for Blu-ray releases and that trend continues this week.  On the new release front we have Denzel flying while intoxicated, Medea searching for a serial killer, and Kevin James’ career taking a MMA style beating.  The catalog titles aren’t much better; we head back to Neverland for it’s 60th anniversary, there are some vintage musicals, and two double packs that are only slightly related.

Nick’s Blu-ray Pick of the Week: Peter Pan is an original Walt Disney classics and it has been given a complete restoration including a revamped transfer and soundtrack.  Special features include an introduction, a commentary by Roy Disney, documentaries, deleted scenes, and more.  It’s a timeless classic and if you’re a Disney fan then this should be a no brainer.

Throw Your Money Away Instead of Buying… this week is a tie  between Alex Cross and Here Comes the Boom.  Both of these films were absolutely terrible for completely different reasons.  Madea tries his/her hand at a more conventional action film and the results are terrible.  Tyler Perry has no business trying to fill Morgan Freeman’s shoes and the dialogue is completely laughable.  Here Comes the Boom has the opposite problem… it’s not laughable at all.  Seriously I laughed one time during the entire film and it wasn’t even at Kevin James.  I felt embarrassed for everyone involved in this film… especially for Henry Winkler.  The Fonz would be mortified to see what happened to Winkler now.
