New Horror Films Added to Netflix Streaming – December 2011

For whatever a reason a little over a month after Halloween season ended Netflix has decided to add a large amount of horror films to their already rather large horror section.  A good number of the films are fun utter rubbish but there a few damn good films in the mix to keep things interesting.

Insidious- Little boy gets processed by a demon.  Surprisingly good little movie that doesn’t over do it with the the CGI effects and instead uses practical effects.

Chillerama- A horror-comedy anthology that spoofs different horror genres from different decades such as a 50′s Monster movie, 60′s Werewolf film, a Hitler-Jewish Frankenstein movie, and a 70/80′s Zombie film.

C.H.U.D.- Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller… Daniel Stern (Home Alone) and John Heard (Home Alone) star in a film about the possible horrors of radioactive contamination and how it could lead to human mutation and the eventual eating of the homeless.

Creepshow 2- Three new segments written by Stephan King & George A. Romero; Old Chief Wood’nhead,  The Raft, and The Hitchhiker make up this installment involving a wooden indian getting his revenge on some punk ass teenagers, some teens goes swimming and get more than they bargained for, and some adulterous bitch gets what she deserves for charging $25 an orgasm and for hitting a bum.

House- A reclusive writer moves back into his recently deceased aunt’s home where his son went missing only to find out that the house his haunted.

House 2: The Second Story- A sequel where none of the original character or even the original House return. It’s more of comedy than a horror film but if you want to pull a House double feature the option is there.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes- Obviously a sequel to the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes so if you love Killer Tomatoes this might be the perfect movie for you.

Return to Horror High-  An early George Clooney film but don’t get too excited he’s makes an early departure.  The plot is convoluted as hell as the film is about a film crew filming a movie at a high school where some gruesome murders occurred several years earlier.  There is a good amount of nudity here and there and the it has one of the most bizarre Scooby Doo endings I’ve ever seen.

Slugs The Movie- Yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like.  Killer slugs are eating people in a small town full of compete idiots.  It has the distinct feel of an 80′s afternoon special with a score that sounds like it was made out of two different movies neither of which were about killer slugs.

Children of the Corn- Creepy kids love corn and killing adults whilst in the corn.

Dead Heat- Un-naturally buff comedian Joe Piscapo and direct-to-video extraordinaire Treat Williams are buddy cops hot on the trail of a string of robberies that are being perpetrated by the un-dead.  Honestly this is one of the weirdest movies I’ve ever seen and it suffers from an identity crisis in a big way because it can’t decide it wants to be a cop movie, a comedy, or a horror film.

The Initiation- Sorority girls are hunted down in a mall by a deranged gardener but not before some of them get naked and tell a completely bizarre and unexpected story of childhood molestation at the hands of a fat faced old man.  The princess from Spaceballs is the star of the film.

Vamp- Grace Jones (Conan the Destroyer) “stars” in this vampire thriller about three college students trying to hire a stripper but they bite off more than they can chew.
